The rural province of North-West borders to Botswana in the north. It is characterised by endless, untouched bushveldt, and golden sunflower fields reaching out to the horizon. Agriculture and livestock farming in „South African Texas“ make the province and important producer of food. Rich commodities such as platinum, diamonds, gold and uranium make mining an important economic factor. The greatest attraction for visitors from all over the world is Sun City. Africa’s probably most exiting resort is located in the Pilanesberg National Park and it offers a large selection of sports and entertainment facilities, for instance two 18-hole-Championship-golf courts. The superlative resort paradise was built in what used to be a rather plane landscape. The Palace of the Lost City is a dream come true and one of the world’s best hotels.

Besides the many sports and recreation facilities in the sparkling glamour world of Sun City there is mature pure in the nearby Pilanesberg National Park. Discover the “Big Five” on game watching tours in open jeeps. Safaris on elephant back a very special event. Close to the border to Botswana there is the Madikwe Game Reserve, also the home of the „Big Five“. All game reserves in the province North-West are free of malaria, which makes them ideal for families with children!

In the holiday area around the Hartbeespoort Lake you can perform all water sports. The Magaliesberge Mountains are suited for hiking, riding, or paragliding. De Wildt Cheetah Centre is dedicated to the breeding of cheetahs and wild dogs. Bird lovers should visit the Barberspan Nature Reserve, an important bird reservation area especially for water birds such as flamingos. The cultural variety of the population is to be found in the Lesedi Cultural Village or in the Multi-Cultural Village in Sun City.
